Logos can be found on the Debian logo guidelines page at: http://www.debian.org/logos/

The official logos have been selected by vote of the Debian developers in Mid 1999.

They have been created by Raul M. Silva (http://www.silva.com)

The red color

The red color has defined pantone values as you can read at [2]

  • The red used in the font is PANTONE Rubine Red 2X CVC
  • Other equivalents of the red include:
    • CMYK - 15%, 96%, 67%, 1% (conversion by Adobe Illustrator 8.0 from Pantone color name [8])

    • RGB - 215, 10, 83 (conversion by Gimp and by an online tool [9])

    • RGB web safe - 221, 17, 85 (conversion by Gimp and by an online tool [9])

    • HEX - #d70a53 by Gimp
    • HEX web safe - #dd1155 by Gimp

Font

BTW, the font used to write "Debian" in the logo is a commercial paid font [0] called Poppl Laudatio Condensed [1]. The i-Dot has been manually replaced by a red diamond. Julien Blache annotated that the text has been condensed horizontally and stretched vertically. The "debian" text can be found in vector format at [5].

There was also a resemmbled free font at [4] - a page that still hosts it is at [3].

A DFSG-free font called Prociono is available in Debian main

Unofficial/Alternative Logos

The Debian Logo is Open Source Brand, read more.... So there are several versions adapted from the Debian Swirl. You can use the spiral in color and style that you feel satisfied or your community debian.

Some unofficial, alternative Debian logo art is available at http://alphapapa.net/debian/logos/, with some previews viewable at http://alphapapa.net/debian/logos/gallery.html
