 * DebianWoody (aka oldstable) contains KDE 2.2.2, and always will.

 * DebianTesting currently contains most of KDE 3.4.2 (excluding kdevelop3 and kdeaddons).
  * The lack of kdeaddons in testing means that the kde meta package will be uninstallable for some time. To install kde in etch, install the kde-core meta package instead, and install the other packages you need one by one.

 * DebianUnstable currently contains KDE 3.4.3 (except for a slightly out-of-date kdevelop).

== KDE CVS ==
 * Where are the KDE CVS packages for sarge/sid?
There are NO current KDE CVS packages available. You can build from source, however.

== Current packaging ==
There are two KDE transitions on the horizon. First, the c2->c2a C++ ABI transition which is being done at the same time as a 3.4 branch update (3.4.2->3.4.3). The second is the transition to KDE 3.5. The 3.5 transition will not start until the first transition has reached Etch. The c2->c2a transition in Etch needs to happen all at once. Until this is ready to happen, Etch will not receive any KDE package updates.

As usual, it is hard to estimate when either of those transitions will happen.

Highly experimental packages for part of KDE 3.5 were uploaded to the alioth pkg-kde repository. [http://lists.debian.org/debian-kde/2005/12/msg00069.html More information about these packages and the KDE 3.5 transition]
 * Lenny contains a mix of KDE 3.5.7 and 3.5.8.
 * Unstable contains KDE 3.5.8.
