Backports
Instructions for getting backported packages from backports.org
See the status of DebianGis package backports with the package thermometer.
The DebianGis project used to run an unofficial public software repository for experimental and backported packages. In practice we lacked the human resources and packages largely lagged behind. Therefore at the end of June 2007 the DebianGIS repository has been removed. Users are encouraged to use testing, sid or backports.org for updated packages from the project. This decision was taken at DebConf7 (see DebianGis/EdiMeetingMinutes).
Latest development versions
Update: subversion repository is currently (i.e. during the wheezy release cycle) deprecated in favor of git, so please have a look to DebianGis/Svn2Git to know about current status of repositories migration. The DebianGis git bare repositories are located at the addresses below:
git://git.debian.org/git/pkg-grass/<source-pkg>
Latest sources can be obtained anonymously via subversion with:
svn co svn://svn.debian.org/svn/pkg-grass/packages/<package-source-name>/trunk
or using your account name, if you are a registered alioth user:
svn co svn+ssh://<account>@svn.debian.org/svn/pkg-grass/packages/<package-source-name>/trunk
In many cases you will get only the debian directory for the package. Backported sources have their own specific branches there. Follow general backports.org policy to upload stable updates*: as a general hint, avoid adding unrequired changes/dependencies to the source package and backport only strictly packages already in testing.
[*] see the "Backporting" section in the DebianGis/InfoForDevelopers page.
