We could collect the location/ID of other booths at Systems who present Debian (e.g. Limux, HP(?), Intel(?), credativ(?), others?) and have a poster pointing to them at our booth, as well as contacting them and making sure they know where we are if people ask about Debian The following Debian-related projects and companies will be present at Systems:

Debian will have a booth at the [http://www.perspektiveopensource.de/ Perspektive Open Source] in Hall B2, Booth 110-2.

Talks

As part of the "Perspektive Open Source", there will be a [http://www.systems-world.de/de/home/kongresse/PerspektiveOpenSourceKonferenz Kongress] and a Forum with talks.

The Kongress requires registration and costs 49 EUR per session, the forum is right next to the booths at "POS-Bühne" B2.110 and is for free.

All talks will most likely be held in german.

These (more or less) Debian-related talks take place at the Forum next to the Open Source area:

  • ?CordMartens, "Zentrales Infrastruktur- und Identity-Management mit Univention Corporate Server (UCS)" on Wednesday, October 24th at 11:30

  • MichaelMeskes. "Debian GNU/Linux im Business" on Wednesday, October 24th at 17:00

  • ?FlorianSchießl, "FAI/GOsa verteilt und verwaltet den Münchner ?LiMux Basisclient" on Thursday,October 25th at 12:30

  • ?PeterGanten, "Linux-Desktop intelligent verwalten" on Friday, October 26th at 10:30

These Debian-related talks take place at the Kongress:

  • ?KaiThorstenHambrecht, "Cluster-Lösungen mit Red Hat und Debian im Vegleich" on Wednesday, October 24th at 12:00.

  • ?FlorianSchießl, "Das erste Jahr Linux-Clients in München - Erfahrungen und Erfolge" on Thursday, October 25th at 14:00

The full Kongress schedule can be found [http://www.systems-world.de/de/home/kongresse/PerspektiveOpenSourceKonferenz here], the full Forum schedule can be found [http://people.debian.org/~mbanck/systems2007/systems2007_forum.pdf here].

HOWTO

Last year's howto by ?AndreasBarth:

http://alius.turmzimmer.net/~aba/.systems-2006/howto

Needs to be updated, and maybe moved here.

Booth Layout

Very similar to last year, but the whole Open Source Park will be more densily packed.

We are in the middle of the FLOSS area (Hall B2, Booth 110-2), see http://people.debian.org/~mbanck/systems2007/Gesamtplan_2007.pdf

The FLOSS area is embedded into the "Perspektive Open Source" area (Hall B2, Booth 110), at the left border of Hall B2: http://people.debian.org/~mbanck/systems2007/Halle_B2_01.10.07.pdf

Booth Hardware

We got the old Gnome Event-Box computer and a TFT kindly provided by ?MurrayCumming.

What to show

  • Default GNOME or KDE desktop (to the booth staff's liking).
  • The Debian homepage in a browser when idle
  • compiz on demand
  • Graphical d-i on demand
  • Some OpenOffice.org rolling demo if somebody organises it

  • The d-i i18n install rolling demo if somebody organises it
  • Debian Live demo if somebody organises it
  • other ideas?

Somebody (volunteers?) should make a list of things we can show, and print them out to be put at the booth for visitors to see and inquire about.

Booth Decoration

  • ?RolandStigges huge Debian banner, however Roland did not answer to inquiries yet.

  • A Debian poster
  • Printed out A4 swirls for people to recognize us
  • A tip jar
  • A list with things we can show/present on demand (see below)
  • A list of booths of companies of other projects which might be of interest to our visitors
  • ThomasTemplin suggested having Debian business cards with our website, logo, and a donation contact on one side, and being empty on the other side for visitors to note down people's email adresses or URLs they were pointed at. Needs organising. (Done, ThomasTemplin. First preview for discussion: http://www.gnuwhv.de/Debian-Bizcard-01.pdf)

  • Flyers
  • The Gnome project used to have a post-it wall with things people think suck/are great about the project. Very good for user feedback. Unfortunately, the space is very probably too limited for this

Booth Staff

Current planning includes 2-3 people at the booth, possible two in the morning, one person reinforcing over lunch, and two in the afternoon, thus 5 shifts and at least three people per day. Systems is 4 days, so we have 20 shifts (semi-days) to fill. If we assume everybody will do two shifts or more, we need at least 10 people.

The following people are volunteering to staff the booth (numbers of shifts and preferred days/times subject to change):

Name Plates

Booth staff should have name plates. Usually, it is easy to gather plastic name plate bags with some sponsor's keychain. Somebody (volunteers?) needs to print the name tags though.

CDs

ADR will provide a burn-robot to the FLOSS-projects area. We will likely have to pay around 0.50 EUR (maybe less or nothing) per blank CD. We ordered 300-500. It is unclear whether the finished CDs will have a printed label on them. If they have, what do we take as artwork?

We need to organize paper covers, ThomasTemplin is probably doing this.

Merchandise

  • CDs: Will get burned at the expo
    • 0-3 EUR, depending on how much they cost and whether they got a printed label.
  • Flyers: Credativ will provide them, they need to be picked up at their booth.
    • for free, to be given to interested and non-interested people
  • Posters: Credativ will provide them, they need to be picked up at their booth.
    • 5 EUR (?)
  • Foil stickers: Not this year, unless somebody organises.
  • Key chains: Credativ will (probably) provide them, they need to be picked up at their booth.
    • 3 EUR
  • T-Shirts: Not this year, unless somebody organises.

Tickets

We will probably get 3 exhibitor passes, which are transferable.

People who get free tickets through other means (e.g. as promotion from computer magazines or through their university or employer) should use them if possible.

For others, we are able to provide guest ticket numbers, which can be used to obtain "online ticket vouchers" at http://www.systems.de/ticket. For questions, ask area-muc@teams.debian.net.

If you need a ticket, or if you have tickets you don't need please drop a mail at area-muc@teams.debian.net or mail to lists@news.robgri.de

The FLOSS area party is on Thursday, and will be organised by SimonRichter.

SimonRichter will provide Sushi.
