Arriving in Aberdeen

Aberdeen can be reached by train and bus. Scotrail provides a rail service direct to Aberdeen from many major UK cities. Timetables and UK tickets to Aberdeen can be found at https://www.scotrail.co.uk/. The bus services are slower but also cheaper, the main operator is Megabus. Aberdeen Train and Bus Station is a 10 minute bus ride from the event venue or a 40 minute walk.

To get to Aberdeen by train from Europe, you will most likely have to take the Eurostar to London St. Pancras, and then another train from London to Aberdeen.

There are also daily flights to and from London, Paris and Amsterdam.

Getting to the venue

Fraser Noble Building is located in the University of Aberdeen King's Campus and is a 30-40 minutes walk away from the city centre. Driving is not advisable as there is only very limited on-street parking near the venue.

Alternatively, buses 19 (stop Sir Duncan Rice Library) and 20 (stop Wrights and Coopers Place), operated by First Bus, stop conveniently next to Fraser Noble Building.

From the city centre, you can also get the number 1 or 2 First Bus services to King Street (stop School Drive). These buses will take you to the edge of campus, or a 5 minute walk from the event venue.

A map of the campus and bus stop locations can be downloaded here - the venue is marked in red.

The buses accept contactless payment and cash, but bus drivers DO NOT give change.

Accommodation

Participants are responsible for booking their own accommodation. The hotel closest to the venue is the OYO Northern Hotel on Great Northern Road, which is a 15-20 minute walk away from the University of Aberdeen Campus. Hotels in the city centre also have good direct bus connections to the campus where the event will be held.
