Deploying and Managing Ceph at the Sanger Institute

Matthew Vernon

Ceph is a distributed, self-healing storage system; at the Sanger Institute, we use it to provide storage for our OpenStack environment, and an S3-compatible interface. In the last year and a bit we have gone from knowing very little about ceph to having a ceph cluster providing about 5.5PB of 3-way replicated usable storage. This talk will explain a little about how we deploy, use, and manage our ceph cluster, and describe some of the lessons we've learned in the process.
