Daniel Silverstone - MyStorm: An Open Source FPGA platform
Clifford Wolf released an open-source toolchain capable of building for the Lattice iCE40 FPGAs just about a year ago. Since then, Ken Boak and Alan Wood have developed an open hardware/software project called ?MyStorm to bring FPGA development at a more accessible price and software load point. In this talk I'll cover a very brief explanation of what an FPGA is, what it used to be like developing for FPGAs, the yosys/arachne-pnr/icestorm software chain, and the current state of the ?MyStorm development platform which will include a live demonstration of writing some Verilog and getting it built and downloaded onto a ?MyStorm board.
