= Lucy Wayland - IEEE 754, FPUs and Other Animals =

Most of us have used floats and doubles in our code, but very few people peer under the hood on how floating point
numbers actually work. I will give a quick potted history of IEEE 754, a brief introduction to fixed point arithmetic,
and then a reasonably comprehensive breakdown of how IEEE 754 floating point works.
