Excursion to the Binary Kitchen

There was an excursion on Thursday:

https://pad.riseup.net/p/L0-ttIHkoL1DoLVeIbMt

Location

MiniDebConf Regensburg is hosted at the OTH Regensburg, IM faculty.

We will be in the IM building with the postal address Galgenbergstraße 32, 93053 Regensburg. The entrance is on the west side of the building.

location-oth-regensburg.png

If you arrive by car, there is a free parking lot just south of the building, accessible from the Galgenbergstraße. Please do only use parking lots outside the gates on weekdays.

WLAN

The conference WLAN is SSID "Conference", the key is printed at the inside of the frontdesk/noisy hacklab door.

There is also open (after agreeing to their T&Cs) WLAN "@BayernWLAN", however that one is heavily filtered.

Accommodation

We recommend the Hotel ibis Regensburg City, which can be reached from the conference location by foot.

COVID / Pandemic Situation

Due to the pandemic there will be a mandatory hygienic concept consisting of:

If you are fully vaccinated, make sure to bring the proof with you, for example using ?CovPass or a similar App. The same is true if you have recovered from COVID. Note that the legal definition of recovered comes with an expiration date!

If you are not fully vaccinated, it is important to let us know beforehand by writing us a short notice to info (at) minidebconf-rbg (dot) debian.net. In this case you will need a test, either a PCR or "quick-test" and you should do the test before your depature from home at a certified test center. Make sure to bring the proof of the negative test with you. Note that you might need additional tests while you are in Regensburg, as the certificates expire quite quickly.

As the test must be certified by an authorized test center, we cannot do the tests at the conference. There is a public test center at the parking lot of the OTH, however the opening hours are very limited and they are not open on the weekend. See Other Test Centers for other possiblites. Some test centers might charge a fee for the tests.

IMPORTANT: WE HAVE TO ENFORCE THE 3G RULE. IF YOU DO NOT BRING PROOF FOR BEING VACCINATED OR RECOVERED, OR DO NOT BRING A VALID TEST WE CANNOT ALLOW YOU TO ENTER THE VENUE. THE RESTAURANTS AND YOUR HOTEL WILL ALSO CHECK THIS!

We are required to wear a medical face mask in the buildings and in the marked outdoor areas of OTH Regensburg. The mask obligation does not apply at fixed sitting, standing or working places, as long as a minimum distance of 1.5 metres to other persons is reliably maintained.

Please also check the Covid page of the OTH.

(There is an planned update to this site before the conference)

[3G] The 3G rule stands for the German words: geimpft, getestet, genesen meaning: vaccinated, tested, recovered.

Bring your Own Cup

We will have coffee and tea. Be sure to bring your own cup, as we have decided against purchasing one-time-use plastic cups.

There is also a water fountain at the venue, so you might want to bring a water bottle as well.

Other beverages will be available as well.

Opening Times

MiniDebCamp

The venue will open up at around 09:00 and the hacklabs we will be open until late in the evening.

MiniDebConf

We plan to start talks at 09:00. The exact schedule will be announced soonish(tm). As like DebCamp, the hacklab will be open until late.

MiniDebConf is planned to end on Sunday around 17:15, where tear-down will start. We will need everyone helping with the tear-down, so we'd appreciate if you could lend us a hand.

Food

MiniDebCamp

There is no proper breakfast opportunity on the venue. Though vending machines are available, and there is a cafeteria with a limited selection of snacks open from 9:00. Cash is not accepted. You can pay with various proprietary electronics mean. ("Mensa Card" -- this is a venue specific thing. Front Desk can lend you a Mensa card if you want to see the cafeteria or the vending machine.

Strong Recommendation: As the "no cash is accepted" thing is quite a hassle, get your breakfast before, e.g at the hotel or at e.g some bakery on the way to the venue. For example Metzgerei Brunner or Wurm Bakery or in the Regensburg Arcaden Shopping Mall. (not all of them might not be open Sundays. Metzgerei Brunner should be open.)

Lunch is served at the "OTH Mensa" (student cafeteria). It will be available from 11:00 to 14:00. Fontdesk will provide you with a voucher for your Mensa, they do not accept cash, so see Frontdesk before you go to eat.

Dinner will be at 18:30, at some local restaurants and on Friday from a delivery service. We are in the process of setting up the menus, and will send out a separate notification once this is done.

In order to avoid delays in the kitchen, you will need to pre-select your meal, and there will be a possibity to let us know what you want.

MiniDebConf

There is no breakfast opportunity on the venue. See the ?MiniDebCamp section for where to get breakfast off-venue.

For Saturday lunch we will order from delivery services. Details will be announced shortly.

Saturday dinner will be at the Unikat, located on campus. There will be a specific selection of dishes for the MiniDebConf, from which you can choose at the restaurant.

Sunday lunch will be a special Bavarian tradition: We go with you to the Kneitinger Keller and have a "Weisswurschtfrühstück". Of course for all vegetarians and those who don't like Weißwürste, there will be other options as well.

Volunteers

Video Team needs you

To be able to stream the talks into the Internet, the Video Team needs your help! We will need Camera Operators, Room Coordinators, Sound Technicians and Directors [https://debconf-video-team.pages.debian.net/docs/volunteer_roles.html |roles]. This roles are not difficult at all and everyone can do it. The best of it: By volunteering you have secured yourself a seat with the best view on the talk in the room!

There will be a Video Team Training Session on Friday evening. We will announce the exact time for the training when the training happens.
