Where
Extremadura organizers have decided that during easter season, a beautiful hall of residence of the [http://www.unex.es/ University of Extremadura] would be the [http://www.unex.es/eweb/RVC/ best place to stay]. Located in [http://www.jarandilla.com/ Jarandilla de la Vera] in the [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C%C3%A1ceres_%28province%29 Cáceres province].
[http://www.meteosat.com/previsiones/sp/localidades/pronostico_del_tiempo_para_Caceres.html Weather at Caceres today]
Networking stuff- like cables, switches, APs, etc - is provided for University and the Junta de Extremadura. If you have any specific needs you can't carry with you, please inform organizers.
Accommodation
The organizers have reserved 12 double rooms for the event. If you have any preferences who to be with, edit ["DebianEmbeddedWorkSessionExtremadura2006/Bedrooms"]. Else we'll fill you in
Transport
All flights are going to Madrid, they have a new Terminal 4, a.k.a Terminator 4. Be aware, that people lose baggage and flights because flighing gates are 20-25 minutes away from security point, and a long way from checking point. Take this as a *WARNING* and please take care with your baggage. Also baggage handling is automatic and i think they really need some emdebian geeks to stay over there for a couple months fixing their stuff. Please *DO NOT LOSE YOUR GADGETS*.
Jarandilla is 240km away from Madrid.
The organization is going to take care of the transport from Madrid to Jarandilla for the attendees.
- How are people going to get to Jarandilla from the airport?
A bus will leave at about 13.00 from The airport terminal 4, or whenever the people from .fi flight get throught the airport.
Food
The sponsor is also taking care of food for the attendees. If somebody have any particular preference/need (like vegans or allergies) please contact the Local Contacts.
Agenda
These are mostly ideas I gathered when I got the idea of this session. I haven't recieved much feedback, so I assume these ideas are not completly off base. I hope people think a bit about the big picture, and how to save their own work in long term by getting more embedded friendlyness in debian.
- ["Embedded Debian"] in general
- Howto to unify all the separate "embedded debian" efforts
- Generate SLIND patches and integrate them into Debian
[http://kitenet.net/~joey/blog/entry/replacing_stuff_with_busybox.html Replacing stuff with busybox]
bring [http://lists.debian.org/debian-embedded/2005/11/msg00014.html Ed's framework] upto date with Etch.
- Minimal rootfs of etch.. with 250MB basic install the need is greater than ever
- create configurations for various devices and document howto do them
- Linksys routers, Peplink, NAS devices, pda's/phones..
- make it easy build bootable filesystem images
- promote DEBUILD_OPTIONS=nodocs flag for not building docs
- promote DEBUILD_OPTIONS=notest for skipping tests
stripping of unneccessary bits of packages (extend [http://packages.qa.debian.org/k/kernel-wedge.html kernel-wedge]?)
- Dpkg subarch support and name for ARM EABI port
- SLIND calls uclibc ports uclibc-i386 style
- some people want i386-uclibc
- ya, flamewar!
- prepare uclibc port(s)
- ArmEabiPort/sh3/blackfin/coldfire and similar "slow/embedded" arch porting
- gpe/opie/maemo packaging and uploading to debian
- Kill scratchbox in it's current form and make a better scratchbox2
- cross-compiling for buildd's
- unify, automate (and make easier) crosscompiler building
- SLIND xcompiler packages
- Wookey's xcompiler packages/scripts
- crosstool
- embedian/ dir vs usablity of udebs for embedded
- rootfs generation: tarball, jffs2, cramfs, nfsroot + sundry flash formats

Hardware and interests
Since we are embedded, instead of say, s390, getting target hardware transported is easy. One of the advantages of meeting physically we exploit is meeting with systems you don't deal with usually. putting them in handluggage is good idea
- Riku:
Linksys NSLU-2, Nokia 770, http://supertank.iodata.jp/products/sotohdlwu/ superH NAS device, ipaq's if needed.
- Scratchbox2, Arm EABI, Crosscompilation for scratch
- Wookey:
- Will bring some selection of Balloon, nanoengine, ipaq, ebp9302, ADI BRH, ARM EB system
- Merge SLIND/emdebian compiler-build systems. Automate them. ARM EABI, dpkg-cross.
- Hector:
