DebianEeePC/Live/UsersGuide

Pre-installation

See ?DebianEeePC/Live to see how to get the image onto a USB stick or similar.

During Boot

  • At boot time you have to hold the Esc key and select the correct device.
  • The default language is English with a US keyboard. For anything else, press Tab and add the "locale=" and "keyb=" boot parameters as indicated below. For different languages, keyboards, etc. you will find settings at http://webconverger.org/i18n/#index2h1. For example, if your Eee PC has a Spanish keyboard but you work in English you would press Tab and add to the end of the line: locale=en keyb=es  and then press Return to continue the boot process.

The Live OS In Use

  • The Start icon is at the bottom left corner of your screen.
  • You can start briquolo from the start menu - it is a 3d brickout game.

  • Start attym from the start menu for your IRC and other messengers, you will be logged into the #debian-eeepc as EeePCLive. To change your nick, type /quote nick Your-New-Nick.
  • If you have a reasonable connection you can hear the sound system with this radio station in Mplayer.

  • You can install more applications, but first you need to update the package list. You can open a terminal and type "sudo aptitude update" to do that, or press "Reload" in the Synaptic Package Manager, found in the System Tools menu.
  • If the system goes to sleep, the password to wake it up again is "live". The username is already there, "user".
