To have a completely [http://www.debian.org/social_contract#guidelines DFSG free] install of Debian on the Eee PC, we need support for the Atheros AR5007/2425 wireless chipset in the Eee. While some early work is being done on that by Nick Kossifidis, it is not ready yet. | To have a completely [http://www.debian.org/social_contract#guidelines DFSG free] install of Debian on the Eee PC, we need support for the Atheros AR5007/2425 wireless chipset in the Eee. Nick Kossifidis is leading the charge on this. He has a test version that is reported by several people to work, but there is nothing ready yet for the end user. Check the [https://lists.ath5k.org/pipermail/ath5k-devel/ ath5k-devel archives] for the latest status.
Your options until this is ready, then, are:
- Do without wireless entirely
- Use a wireless USB dongle supported by DFSG free drivers
- Replace the internal wireless card with one that is supported by DFSG free drivers
- Help the ath5k project finish the work on ath5k
