Issues
nagios3 - if you upgrade from a previous Debian Edu installation you need to run rm -rf /etc/nagios3/* ; cp -a /etc/nagios2/* /etc/nagios3/ - we need to confirm this actually works in our default setup.
There are some bugs with the installer:
- The installer asks for the name of the machine in the network setup... (FIXME: probably not for dvd install check if it's still valid for netinstalls)
- The d-i menu reordering do not quite work. The root password is never asked, this might be a known bug in main-menu that will be fixed in beta2. But we can use the opportunity to tune our reordering dependency lines better. Seems that debhelper is reordering the depends line in alphabetical order when building debian-edu-install-udeb.
- Installing the LTSP chroot fail, and the installer hangs when this happen. No known workaround at the moment.
- debian-edu-etc-svk do not seem to initialize as it should.
- pkgsel failes to install octave cousing a error in the installer, when installing a thin client server profile(perhaps also workstation?) . rerunning the default selected step works.
- slapd does not run after a installation, /var/lib/ldap is empty = lots of failures in the testsuite
New Features in Lenny
also see http://wiki.debian.org/NewInLenny
we finally have a [http://homepages.cae.wisc.edu/~gerdts/killer/ killer] feature !
nagios3 - if you upgrade from a previous Debian Edu installation you need to run rm -rf /etc/nagios3/* ; cp -a /etc/nagios2/* /etc/nagios3/ - and we need to confirm this actually works in our default setup.
- per default all .xsession-errors are truncated automatically or redirected to /dev/null, the user can disable this by creating ~/.xsession-errors-enable
The Barebone profile has been renamed to Minimal, a Sugar profile has been added.
