Test release

Instructions for doing test releases of debian-edu

  1. make sure debian-edu/etch is in a releaseable state
  2. Prepeare the iso's.
  3. send announcement email.

Prepearing the iso

The release consists of the latest non -test versions of the iso's, make sure that the images are updated before the release. One might also use http://ftp.skolelinux.org/skolelinux/needs_love.html, to verify that the regular iso's dont lag far behind the -test isos. If packages should be updated, send a request on ftpmaster@skolelinux.no.

Remember to make sure the release name is updated in debian-edu-install, files debian-edu-preseed and debian/debian-edu-install.postinst.

You should also do a simple test install to verify that there are no very obvious bugs.

Announcement Email

A important part of the test release is the announcement email both to Skolelinux lists and to [distro@distrowatch.com]. Hopefully the DebianEdu/ReleaseNotes have been updated through the development process. If not you will have to write it yourself. when the iso's are available. Send the announcement email to the addresses listed at the end of DebianEdu/ReleaseNotes .

Addresses commonly used for announcements are debian-edu-announce (at) lists.debian.org, debian-edu (at) lists.debian.org, linuxiskolen (at) skolelinux.no, distro (at) distrowatch.com, admin-discuss (at) skolelinux.org, user (at) skolelinux.de, bruker (at) skolelinux.no, debian-edu-french (at) lists.debian.org, styret (at) friprogramvareiskolen.no and press@debian.org.
