What Educational Software comes with Skolelinux?
The Debian Edu project provides a vast array of software for education as well as special school software. The list would be too large to enumerate here. However, there is a list of software in Debian.
Which browsers are available?
Mozilla, Konqueror, Opera, lynx (text based) are all installed by default in Skolelinux. More alternative browsers exist in the Debian Package archive (e.g. Epiphany, Galeon, w3m, link-ssl)
Which databases are provided?
Openoffice.org provides considerable facilities for use and merging of various data sources. PostgreSQL is pre-installed and MySQL is available through apt-get.
Which Word Processors are available?
OpenOffice.org Writer, KWord, Abiword, LyX
Which reference books are part of Skolelinux?

Which compilers are available?
- gcc (Gnu C Compiler) and g++ (Gnu C++ Compiler). javac (Java compiler), g77 (fortran 77) and many others are installable afterward. The Perl and Python interpreters are pre-installed. Also available are PHP, Ruby, basic among many other interpreters.
What further software packages are available?
All packages that are available for Debian can be simply installed with apt-get install. Read more at debian.org.
Which window manager is used?
- By default, Skolelinux is provided with KDE, probably because of its similarity to MS Windows (TM). But as any other software package, you can install alternative window managers easily. This is also valid for the thin client server (LTSP).
