DebianEdu/Skolelinux 2.0 is based on the Stable (Sarge) version of Debian that was released as Stable in June 2005, and that many schools have been using this version since August 2005 (some schools even have used a sarge based installation since August 2004)
Testing versions
We are currently working on what will become our new stable release. To be able to test these images we build new DVD-images several times a day (if any of our developers change any of the content). If you have a spare PC to help us test these images, please do so!
Please note that these DVD-images are intended for testing only. Do not use these for production unless you know what you are doing!

You can also download/update these images with rsync:
rsync -vv ftp.skolelinux.no::skolelinux-etch-test-dvd/debian-edu-amd64-i386-powerpc-DVD-1.iso debian-edu-DVD-1.iso
Check the md5sum and the timestamp on ftp://ftp.skolelinux.org/cd-etch-test-dvd/ because the file can change while downloading. Start the rsync again until the md5sum match.
There are also CD images for download, but the DVD image is recommended.
OldStable versions
The oldstable version is based on the Old-stable (woody) version of Debian. Please use the Sarge based version instead

There is some help on how to get things installed on a Mac on the German Skolelinux-Wiki
Updating the CD
If you already have a version of Skolelinux and want to download the newest version, you can and should use rsync. rsync' finds which chunks of the file that have been modified and downloads only those. It's faster and saves our bandwith. The following command updates your ISO-image, where filename.iso is the name of the existing file on your disk:
rsync ftp.skolelinux.no::skolelinux-cd/debian-edu20r0-i386.iso filename.iso
