Theme: Lisp Machine
This theme is based on the CADR Lisp Machine of the MIT Artificial Intelligence Laboratory. The machine played a role in the history of free software. Its commercialization split the MIT hacker community and was one of the reasons MIT student Richard M. Stallman started the GNU project. The complex wiring of the machine (the first machines were hand-assembled by Prof. Richard Greenblatt in the mid-1970s) may also symbolize the art of hacking, that is valued by the debian community. I photographed the machine during a visit in Boston on October 9th, 2010.
