I always thought that the debian logo was a bit too abstract (its supposed to be a spiral galaxy, as in ''universal'', huh?) and antiquated, thats why I created a full redesign for the new version. I made a quick presentation to underline my thoughts on the current visual identity:

Fresh Theme / Logo Redesign

Approach

I always thought that the debian logo was a bit too abstract (its supposed to be a spiral galaxy, as in universal, huh?) and antiquated, thats why I created a full redesign for the new version.

I tried to keep it simple, solid and unobstrusive. Contemporary but still rooted to the original design from 1999.

Notes

* The font is PT Serif, a beautiful russian typeface that was released with open user license and can be downloaded here: http://www.paratype.com/public/

* This is my first contribution to Debian, so let me know if anything needs to be corrected. I'm also willing to do additional graphics if required.
