The Journey

Version 2

The purpose of this design is to give Debian GNU/Linux a valueable look.

Like the design of a car, plane or spacecraft, I made a design for the outside (boot, login, logout, shutdown) and one for the inside (wallpaper).

The outside design is of a shimmering color like nacre. It consists of many tiny hexagons - a structure that looks scientific and organic at the same time. It should look fresh, modern and elegant.

On the inside, you have a brown surface that looks like bruyere. The hexagons I used come from the free "Nanosuit" texture by blakegedye (thanks!), which make the background also look flexible and warm like leather.

The whole color has a dark sepia tone with the exception of a glance of blue behind the Debian Swirl - a symbol of energy and freedom (blue sky). The swirl is inside a silver sphere, which symbolizes perfection.

The goal is to have a design that makes a perfect impression, even in corporate environments.

Enjoy!

PS: With the exception of the GDM picture these are real screenshots, no mockups. So you can already use the Grub 2 and the Plymouth theme, if you like them.

PPS: I chose brown as color, as it perfectly correspondents to the blue highlight color used in the default Gnome desktop. In my eyes, the color is free to use for this distro, as Ubuntu has abandoned it and switched to orange and pink.
