A proposal for Debian 13 (Trixie).

Update 2024-09-14:

Concept

I wanted it to have paint strokes like the Debian logo that was created with a digital stroke. Also, I made it look like plastic like toys that are made of plastic. Then I chose the Debian red hue as main color. Finally, I vectorized a silhouette of the skull of a Triceratops to represent Trixie, the Pixar character.

Process

I did this entirely in Inkscape 1.2. and used a total of 237 filter primitives. A 4K render takes over 2 minutes on my machine. Sadly, no Desktop Environment can fully render that many filters in a reasonable amount of time, so it must be exported to PNG.

I exported all assets with a shell script, because if I do it in Inkscape, it will just crash in the middle of the process. Again, too many filters. The script was done with Inkscape and ?ImageMagic commands.

I'm also used a python script to check the overall luminosity. The goal was to have a luma close to 0.3426. That is the average luminosity of the Adwaita Dark wallpaper from GNOME.
