Change

Wilton Gorske

Concept

Debian has fundamentally changed the course of GNU/Linux since its inception. The vast collection of free and open-source software, and the people behind it, embody a truly novel way of thinking about the rights and freedoms of computing in an increasingly digital world. Following this tradition, for the next major release of Debian 11 Bullseye, this Change theme uses a tie-dye-like gradient for the background, vaguely reminiscent of the swirl of the Debian logo and the return of counter-cultural aesthetics—while sticking to the traditional blue color palette. In thinking about the cyclical, spiral nature of time, hitting the mark of the bullseye, and the interplanetary theme of previous Debian releases, the concentric rings are inspired by the the extreme trans-Neptunian object orbits of Planet Nine.
