- Boot Screen
Isolinux: 640x300, 4bit color depth (means: 16 colors). View Make Sys Image
- Syslinux: 640x300, 16bit color depth (means: 65,536 colors), file PNG (maybe {ext,sys}linux, plymouth/usplash?)
- GRUB 2: 640x480, 24bit, file PNG.
Splashy: 800x600, 16bit( 65536 colors) how create a theme splashy
- Plymouth: An SVG file (or at the very least a collection of PNGs for the different elements from the scene, and the background)
Debian Installer: 800x75, 16bit (65536 colors) + possibly a gtk theme to match the colours of the image (the theme must be stripped and default custom buttons will not be used - see the discussion about the stripped Bladr theme)
- Desktop Wallpaper
- Highly recommended to be a SVG file
It must look nice when cropped at either of those resolutions (spacefun is a good example of what to do not)
