Debconf6's Talks Announced
The annual Debian Developers Conference (DebConf) for 2006 will be held in Oaxtepec, Mexico from May 14th to May 22th 2006. Its target audience is mainly Debian Developers and contributors to the project, although Debian users are welcome to attend as well. The talks that will be held during the conference have already been selected and are listed at Debconf6's site [1].
Every year, since 2000, Free Software developers from more than 30 countries around the world meet for a week-long series of intensive development, workshops and seminars to work on the Debian distribution. Through the talks, demos, coding parties and discussions, the main figures of one of the major GNU/Linux distributions gather to make Debian better. The event is highly technical in nature, although socializing and sharing experiences among developers is also an important part of it.
Participation to the event is free of charge, and those who register [2] before March 6th 2006 also get sponsored accomodation and food.
The schedule for the talks will be created using an election system so that those who want to be present during a certain talk will be able to be there. Therefore, it will be published very close to the start of the conference.
DebConf6 is being organized with financial support from HP, ?NetApp, Intel and Bytemark Hosting.

Debconf6 en Oaxtepec, México
Cada año, desarrolladores de software libre de más de 30 países se reúnen durante una semana de intenso intercambio y desarrollo, para trabajar en el proyecto Debian. A través de un conjuto de charlas, talleres, demostraciones y "coding-parties", los protagonistas del avance y crecimiento de una de las más importantes distribuciones de GNU/Linux comparten conocimiento y experiencia en vistas a mejorar la distribución al máximo.
Es, en esencia, un evento de elevado nivel técnico. Aunque la convivencia y el intercambio de experiencias entre los participantes forma también una parte importante del evento.
En 2006, la conferencia anual de desarrolladores de Debian (DebConf) tendrá lugar en Oaxtepec, México desde el 14 de mayo hasta el 22 de mayo de 2006. La entrada es libre y gratuita, y si bien el evento está orientado principalmente a desarrolladores y colaboradores del proyecto Debian, también son bienvenidos usuarios activos de la distribución.
Previo al comienzo de la conferencia, el día 13 de mayo, se llevará a cabo un evento especial, titulado "Debian Day", orientado a la prensa y el público en general. Durante este día, se llevarán a cabo varias charlas, en español y en inglés de diversos temas relacionados con Debian.
El evento es una excelente oportunidad para que empresas y miembros del gobierno, para descubrir los beneficios de una de las distribuciones de GNU/Linux más maduras. Además, los usuarios del sistema podrán conocer a la comunidad de Debian y aprender de sus desarrolladores.
