Why Auckland and the University of Auckland venue
The University of Auckland campus provides all the facilities in a single place, in near to the centre of New Zealand's largest city. University of Auckland is the only university in New Zealand to make the list of the top 100 universities in the world.

The venue
The conference will be hosted at the School of Engineering, the Engineering Building offers:
- Three 250‑seat theatres with tiered seating
- One 270-seat theatre
- Two 64‑seat seminar rooms
- Five smaller meeting rooms seating between 16-45 pax
- An open (indoor) ‘Terrace’ in tiered style for 50 pax
- Foyer space for receptions up to 300 people; or broken into 5 areas for multi-purpose use

JO & JOE Auckland as well as many hotels in the surrounding city, priced for the off-season.
JO & JOE:
- 73 room and 298 beds
- NZ $55 per head + $30 continental breakfast
- Vibrant community spaces, a rooftop bar and onsite restaurant

Food
Catering by the university catering services.
IP Networking
- The School of Engineering has a 10Gb internet connection.
- University relies on New Zealand's educational backbone, connected to all NZ ISPs,
- IPv6 ready
- Wifi fully available throughout venue, including full support for "eduroam".
- If necessary the 10Gb can be partitioned to allow for dedicated videoteam bandwidth, or a separate 10Gb connection is also an option.
Accessibility
The University of Auckland is fully accessivble with step-free access available to all spaces.
JO & JOE also have a small number of fully accessible rooms, and all rooms have step-free access.
Day trip
There are multiple options.
- Low cost option: visit to Devonport and Takarunga Mount Victoria by ferry with a visit to a native plant nursery and talk from local experts
- Full day trip to Tiritiri Matangi Island, a nature sanctuary in the Hauraki Gulf
Whale & Dolphin Watching trip.

Proposed so far is to use the Museum of Transport and Technology MOTAT "Aviation Hall"
Visa Policy
New Zealand supports Visa on Arrival for around 60 countries and we will have access to a Relationship Manager at Immigration New Zealand to assist with delegate visa applications.
Cheese & Wine party
Is problematic. It is illegal to bring many foods into the country, so we will have to do something different for this.
Of course we do still have very good quality cheese, wine, coffee, and many other interesting locally and internationally sourced foods, just that you don't want to try personally bringing anything through customs where the cute little beagles will sniff it out and the not-so-cute people in uniform will take it off you and slap you with a $10,000 fine...
Getting in
- By plane: Direct international connections to Auckland Airport are available from around 43 locations around Australia, Pacific, Asia, North and South America travelling on 27 different airlines
The airport bus takes around 40 minutes to get from the airport to the central city, a few hundred metres from the proposed accommodation.
Other
If you're coming to New Zealand from far away, make a trip of it and visit the whole country! There's something to offer for everyone, from a soak in a hot pool in Rotorua, to skiing or snowboarding amidst some of New Zealand's fine scenery as depicted in that well known travelogue "The Lord of the Rings".
