Customs Declarations

  • Arriving travelers will only have to make a Customs declaration when they have to pay the corresponding tax for having exceeded the limit, transport goods regulated by SENASA, or bring in cash and/or monetary instruments - in foreign or national legal tender - for a value equal to or greater than the equivalent of USD 10000.
  • The Customs declaration is made by completing the digital inbound baggage declaration form that you can find in the mobile applications or at the self-service terminals. If you cannot make the digital Customs declaration, you must do it manually using form OM-2087/G5 or OM-2087/G6, as appropriate.

• Standard VAT rate is 21%. A partial refund of 14% is available to tourists when all the following conditions are met:

  • The merchant is affiliated with Global Blue or with Premier Tax Free

    • 5 Global Blue affiliates in City of Santa Fe Map

  • goods (not food, not services) must be made in Argentina, not imported goods

  • goods must be unused at time of exit, and subject to inspection by customs before a refund can be claimed

• Procedure
  • Request the "refund check" (original and triplicate) along with the type B invoice or type B receipt when making purchases at stores participating in the refund system that display the "TAX FREE" logo. Imported products must be invoiced separately, as they are not eligible for the benefit.
  • Prove your tourist status to the seller using the card or receipt issued by the National Directorate of Migration, and your passport or identity document.
  • Upon leaving the country, display the merchandise, the invoice or receipt and the "Refund Check" for verification and authorization by customs personnel.
  • To receive a refund, tourists can choose one of the following options:
    • Cash refund: By going to the refund office of the company responsible for the purchase of the goods. Cash refunds are only available at airports, port terminals, and other border crossings with refund offices operated by the participating companies.
    • Refund by credit card: By presenting the documentation stamped by Customs at the refund offices.
    • Postal money order to the recipient's home address: By depositing the refund checks in the mailboxes provided by the corresponding participating company.
