Places
Jardim Botânico:Curitiba's most visited attraction. Besides the greenhouse reminiscent of the old Crystal Palace of London, the geometric gardens and the forest of native forest, the place houses the Botanical museum, with species that are national reference. The museum still has space for exhibitions, library and auditorium. On site, it is also possible to visit the garden of sensations, a trail of 200 meters of extension that the visitor travels blindfolded, knowing with the other senses plants and some natural landscapes.
Ópera de Arame: One of the emblematic symbols of Curitiba, with tubular structure and transparent ceiling, of great beauty. Inaugurated in 1992, it caters for all types of shows, between lakes, typical vegetation and cascades, on a unique landscape. The Opera is part of the Pedreiras Park, together with the Paulo Leminski Cultural Space, where the Passion of Christ was enacted, and hosted many other big events since 1989, and can receive, in open air, 10 thousand people seating or 50 thousand standing.
Universidade Livre do Meio Ambiente: The Free University of the environment, amid the green of the Zaninelli Grove, made Curitiba the first city in the world to maintain a space for studies and transfer of knowledge to the population on the environment and ecology. The architectural design, executed with rustic materials, represents in shape and colors the four elements of nature: Earth, fire, water and air. It was created on June 5, 1991, occupying the current space – inaugurated by the French oceanographer Jacques Cousteau – since 1992.
Torre Panorâmica: It was inaugurated in 1991 and is supported by mobile telephony. The viewpoint of 109.5 meters high allows a view of 360 degrees of the city and the contours of the Serra do Mar. On the floor, a relief map indicates important points of Curitiba. The panel of Poty Lazzarotto, in turn, shows the development of the capital. At the entrance of the tower is the phone museum.
Parque Tanguá:Inaugurated in 1996, it is part of the Barigui River Preservation Project, along with the Tingui and Barigui Park. Stand out in the park two quarries, joined by a tunnel of 45m, which can be traversed on foot by a walkway over the water. It has a jogging track, bike path, gazebo, cafeteria and Poty Lazzarotto garden. Considered one of the best places to enjoy the sunset in Curitiba.
Parque Tingui: Its name pays tribute to the Indians who inhabited the region. Created in 1994, it is located in the preservation range along the Barigui River. The Ukrainian Memorial is a replica of the Church of St. Michael, located in Mallet, inside the state. Its construction follows the norms of the Orthodox religion: eight-sided dome covered with copper, faces representing the quadrants of human understanding, altar facing east and roof in pine. It houses exhibit of pysanky and icons.
MON - Oscar Niemeyer Museum: The MON, as it is known, is one of the largest museums in Latin America. Its collection houses more than 2,200 works of artists recognized nationally and internationally. Designed by architect Oscar Niemeyer, its structure of 35000 m² stands out between 144,000 m² of green area. The complex is formed by the main building, designed in 1967, the new annex, conceived in 2001 and inspired by the Araucaria, large tree and symbol of Paraná. The elliptical shape and the glass walls of this new annex have conferred on MON the affectionate and popular nickname "Museum of the Eye".
