A Corner Case is an extreme example used to clarify the limits of a definition. Sometimes certain hypothetical examples become so common, they are given a proper name for easy reference. The DissidentTest and the DesertIslandTest are two examples often used by the Debian-Legal mailing list (http://lists.debian.org/debian-legal/).
