Debian 12 (bookworm) on Amazon EC2

SSH username

SSH to Debian instances as user admin using your SSH key, and then sudo -i to gain root access.

Status

Debian 12 (bookworm) AMIs are available for both arm64 and amd64 (x86_64) instance types in all public regions except those in in China. China and US GovCloud regional availability is planned for the future.

The AMIs are owned by AWS account ID 136693071363 and can be launched via the AWS Marketplace or directly using the AMI IDs listed below.

The current AMI names are:

  • debian-12-arm64-20230723-1450

AMI IDs can be obtained via Public Parameters in the AWS Systems Manager Parameter Store in the /aws/service/debian/ namespace.
