Venue

Eastern Bloc will graciously be hosting us. You can see pictures of the gallery here.

The "Annexe 2" has been reserved for us, but if the gallery is free that weekend we can use it too.

Infrastructure

To configure the apt proxy on your client:

$ echo "Acquire::http { Proxy "http://192.168.2.216:3142"; }" | sudo tee -a /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/proxy
$ sudo apt update

We need:

  • To bring a WiFi AP (pollo will)

  • To bring a machine for the APT proxy (pollo will)
  • To bring network switches and ethernet cables (lavamind will)
  • To build a local APT proxy (see AptCacherNg for client & server setup instructions)

Transport

Easter Bloc is right next to the "De Castelnau" subway station, on the blue line.

Food

  • Breakfast and Lunch will be provided on both days for the first 15 registered attendees. If more people, we share food. Because we love sharing, right?

The food is most likely to be all vegetarian and vegan for convenience's sake. Coffee and tea will also be available on site. Catering service provided by Santropol Roulant.

Accommodation

We should be allowed to stay all night at the venue, so if you want to bring an air mattress/sleeping bag with you, you might be able to crash there. But please **do not depend on the venue for sleeping**, it's important that you have a place to get a proper sleep overnight.

We also have couches to provide! Do you have an empty couch in Montréal and would welcome someone attending the BSP? Please leave your information below.

Bring

Please consider bringing the following items:

  • computers
  • network cable
  • power adaptors
  • power bars
  • winter boots and warm clothes, as Montréal is cold during winter :D

Reimbursement

As announced on debian-devel-announce/:

The Debian Project is willing to reimburse 100 USD (or equivalent) of expenses to attend Bug Squashing Parties (BSP). (...) Reimbursement requests should meet the following conditions:

  • The requester should be a contributor of some description or have otherwise demonstrated a commitment to perform that kind of work.
  • The requester agrees to communicate their activities during the event (such as posting to Planet Debian, etc.). The goal here is to motivate others by increasing visibility.
