Watching Arm failures

Information Source:

This list of uninstallable packages can be useful for prioritisation too: http://ftp-master.debian.org/~aba/test-issues/current

Feel free to:

significant holds-ups

Currently much of gnome is not installable (gnome-session, gnome-panel, etc).

The main blocker appears to be gnome-control-panel. This needs a rebuild to update the dependency on libdbus-1. Other arches appear to have been binNMU, but not arm. Uploaded v_2.14.2-3+b1 on 2006-11-03.

evince also needa a rebuild for the same reasons and to update the dependency on libdjvulibre15.

The totem is failing to build because of dependency problems. This should resolve itself once gnome-control-panel is fixed.

java problems

This is our most important bug - please try to fix it ASAP

{{{Setting up gij-4.1 (4.1.1-13) ... /var/lib/dpkg/info/gij-4.1.postinst: line 20: 19362 Segmentation fault gcj-dbtool-4.1 -n /var/lib/gcj-4.1/classmap.db dpkg: error processing gij-4.1 (--configure):}}} This is preventing all sort of things building (lasso, pdftk). More info can be found at http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=388505 and upstream: http://gcc.gnu.org/PR29206

This needs someone who understands something about java, gcc and arm to fix.

This has been worked-around in gij-4.1 by simply not running gcj-dbtool, but now it pops up in ecj-bootstrap instead. (http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=394396). Another workaround is given in that bugreport, but apparently it just breaks the package.

bug #230601. Doesn't know about arm weird float format, and also hangs unless compiled with -O1. Now fixed. (2006-10-20). Uploaded 2006-10-23.

hangs using jikes: {{{Adding java source files from VM directory ../vm/reference /usr/bin/jikes -q -g +Pno-shadow +Pno-switchcheck +F -encoding UTF-8 -bootclasspath -extdirs -sourcepath --classpath ..:../vm/reference:../external/w3c_dom:../external/sax:.: -d . @classes make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Terminated make: *** [build-arch-stamp] Terminated make[2]: *** [compile-classes] Terminated Build killed with signal 15 after 499 minutes of inactivity}}} Jikes is broken - it hangs unless built with -O1. See #377156

This should be fixed by #230601. needs rebuild, now jikes is there.

Java dependencies

A lot of java stuff is broken - some due to gij not installing some due to kaffe not building. We need to unbung this logjam. gij4-1 segfaults on setup (See above), but it has been worked around

need gij4.1 fixing:

gcc4 ICEs

unclassified ICE's

These need proper bugreports generating and filing upstream. Comparing against cvs-snapshot on an unstable system if you can.

{{{ugsc.c: In function 'phaser1set': ugsc.c:334: fatal error: internal consistency failure compilation terminated.}}}

BinNMU needed

Normal issues

builds timing out

These may be due to a genuine problem, or may simply be that the buildd is struggling (thrashing) and would actually complete eventually.

failed - bugs not yet filed

failed - bugs filed

depwait

currently (early nov 2006) 54 of these - especially java stuff is a problem - needs attention

needs retrying

When kdelibs 4:3.5.5a.dfsg.1-3 is built

When kdebase 4:3.5.5a.dfsg.1-1

needs urgent research - regressions

needs research - never worked

mono

Mono can only build for v4 or later. see #394418. This seems fair enough. Investigation is still needed into why builds fail on some buildds (netwinders) but not others (cats), given that both of htese are very similar.

buildd problems

not-for-us

These packages are not for arch=arm so are not expected to build. They still appear on the buildd status pages as failures.
