Please describe your experience with Debian as a user and as a contributor:I am new to Debian so I have never contributed with Debian. But I have a very good exposure of Linux.

Please describe any relevant projects that you have worked on previously and what knowledge you gained from working on them: https://github.com/mishra123

Background: I am currently pursuing my Masters of Science in Information Systems Management from Carnegie Mellon University, Australia. I have completed my bachelors in computer Science and engineering from Punjab Technical University, India. While doing my undergraduation, I cleared SCJP exam 5.0. I have worked as a web developer for more than a year at Jumbo Labs Solutions Pty. Ltd. While working with Jumbo Labs, I was involved in a variety of projects in developing client websites ranging from corporate branding to web portals. I have experience in developing web applications using standard web technologies like HTML, CSS, Javascript, JQuery, AJAX, JSON, XML, XSLT, JSP etc. After joining CMU, I have worked on a variety of projects as few of them are enlisted in my ?GitHub account. I have a good knowledge of Linux environment. I also have tested my hands on cloud computing technologies and big data analysis which is one of the areas I would like to develop my career in. At the moment, I am doing my internship with Digital Market Square Pty Ltd, Adelaide where I am learning Agile Project development. We use JIRA, Confluence, Github etc. tools to develop projects within a specified time limits. In addition to this, I am developing a mobile application called "Healthy Baby App" which is going to be the part of an already existing iOS app "CCME". Our client is Menzies and the aim of this app is to develop the health system related to pregnant women. This is a survey app which are related to the health of pregnant women which contains questions related to different stages of the pregnancy period and the after delivery stages so that the whole health system can be improved. We are using ?LimeSurvey API, Objective C, Amazon web services and MySQL. This project is expected to be completed by end of April.

Why Debian? : Debian is very friendly and free community which brings new and exciting contributions to improve the IT world. I really want to contribute to the community so that I can get chance to work with these friendly people and use my knowledge to do something useful. In addition to this, Debian is considered one of the secure environments. To know what makes this environment so popular and safe, what are best practices you people use, how do you manage the team and projects while staying away from each other and many more things which I think I would not be aware of.

What project(s) are you interested in (these can be in the same or different organizations)?: I am opened to all kinds of technical coding projects. As I am SCJP (5.0) so I am very much interested in java based projects. Besides that, I have worked on web technologies during my job in India and during my studies with Carnegie Mellon University.

Who is a possible mentor for the project you are most interested in?: Daniel Pocock

Other time commitments: I would be available full time to work with the projects and the company. Moreover, next semester I would be having very few units to do as this will be my last semester, therefore I will be available full time till August 2014.

Are you applying for other projects in OPW? : This is my first OPW community where I am applying to. I am planning to apply for Mozila too. I actually do not know about this.

Projects : WebRTC portal for the Debian community

I acquire almost all of the skills that we need to develop this project.

Enabling free multimedia real-time communications (RTC) with Debian

I did benchmark various kind of systems against each other during my cloud computing project. I have used Hadoop Map Reduce, Amazon ?DynamoDb, HBase, Casandra etc for benchmarking. Moreover, during Big Data analysis, I used benchmarking. I do not know what ways do you use to benchmark the performance of the system, but I am interested in measuring the capabilities of existing and potential packages against the benchmark for the project and setting the benchmark for Debian 8.0: defining the RTC experience that Debian should promise to the Debian community. I am very committed to what I said.
