Netinstall
Chi possiede una connessione a banda larga raramente scarica l'intero set di immagini iso da 650 MB per installare Debian. Solitamente allora si preferisce utilizzare CD minimali per l'installazione via rete. Questa particolare immagine iso (detta "netinst") contiene solo il software necessario a costruire un sistema veramente minimale. Durante l'installazione verrà scaricato il resto del software richiesto secondo le nostre necessità. Una immagine iso netinst si aggira sui 180 MB. E' disponibile anche l'immagine "businesscard" della dimensione di circa 40 MB. (I don't recall if the businesscard iso gives you the boot option of linux26. I don't think it does.)
Network install is much more efficient than downloading the full set of ISOs because, aside from the necessary core packages, network install only downloads the packages you've chosen (I always choose none (not even "manual package selection") and then apt-get install what I want later). The one catch is, of course, you'll need to be able to connect to the Internet during the install process.
If your wireless network card is not recognized by the installer, you might consider trying the install using a different network card, or using a wired (ethernet cable) connection.
If you have no way of establishing a network connection during the installation, then the network install will obviously not work. In that case, you will need to install using full installation CDs or DVDs. Note that the entire set of CDs is usually not required: the first one or, at most, two CDs should do.
