DebianOn is an effort to document how to install, configure and use Debian on some specific hardware. Therefore potential buyers would know if that hardware is supported and owners would know how get the best out of that hardware.

The purpose is not to duplicate the Debian Official Documentation, but to document how to install Debian on some specific hardware.

Important Note

Like Squeeze, Wheezy has a little inappropriate way of using the mousepad, but to fix it needs only a one-liner, as you can see below.
On the other Hand, Wheezy finally gets through the mounted partition issue, so that you don't have to manually update grub after installing via usb.
The best way to install Wheezy is to use the normal netinstall image from debian.org. Use dd or cp to write it straight to your USB stick, do not use unetbootin or similar.

Mouse and keyboard

The mousepad works, but not really great, there is the known defect with the buttons. As in squeeze, type in
# echo options psmouse proto=exps > /etc/modprobe.d/psmouse.modprobe.conf
with root rights and your mousepad will work fine. Yet zooming with two fingers and so on does not work.

Power Management

Works everything out of the box.

WiFi

The best way I found out was to use the module-assistant to install broadcom-sta and then install the b43-firmware:
Be sure, you have added non-free sources to your sources.list. Add the line
deb http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian wheezy main contrib non-free
in /etc/apt/sources.list
Open terminal in root and type:

# aptitude update
# aptitude install module-assistant wireless-tools
# m-a a-i broadcom-sta
# aptitude install firmware-b43-lpphy-installer

Activate wlan:
# modprobe wl

Now the command 'iwconfig' should list your wireless card.

Alternative use of the vendor driver.

Webcam

Works out-of-the-box.
