The new Debian list search uses the Xapian query parser.
Query Expressions
The search accepts multiple words (terms).
By default the search returns any page with any of the terms. To search for phrases, put them in quotation marks (")
The search terms are stemmed.
However terms that look like proper names (first letter is capitalised) are not stemmed.Aside from stemming, the matching is not case-sensitive
(so search term 'Fred' will match 'FRED' and 'fred').- Terms prefixed with + must occur in the results.
- Terms prefixed with - must not occur in the results.
- The boolean operators AND, OR, and XOR are supported. The keyword NOT actually is the binary term 'and not'. Parentheses () can be used for grouping terms.
List selection
If you do not select anything, all lists will be searched.
Language chooser
The language chooser only affects the stemming (i.e. how the search tries to cope with different forms of the same word, such as plurals). Lists of different languages will be searched as well.
Author
You can enter names or email addresses in the author search.
