Application Manager Requirements
This is an unofficial HOWTO describing the process of becoming an Application Manager (AM). I searched for information about becoming an AM and didn't find anything. This page is intended to fill the gap.
Most prospective Debian Developers complain about the length of the new maintainer process. One of the reasons is a shortage of AMs.
You should:
- have been a DD for at least 6 months
- regularly do QA work
know DebianPolicy very well
- have free time to contribute
- be friendly and calm
- have the ability to explain complex technical subjects simply
- have sponsored some packages
If you think you meet the above requirements, you are encouraged to email new-maintainer@debian.org with a short (ca. 10 lines) paragraph describing your work as a DD.
